Tacoma Tourney Produces 3-Way Playoff For First Place
When the dust cleared and the 'oohs' and 'ahhs' of more than 200 spectators subsided, Bob Williamson of Jacksonville, FL; Condy Roberson of Savannah, GA; and Ron Adams of Tacoma all had exactly 126 strokes for the 4-round tourney.
Feeling very fortunate over his tie was current National Champ, Bob Williamson, who had staged a tremendous come-back after suffering a disasterous 8 strokes on hole 13 of his third round. The 18-hole playoff round proved most exciting as it remained tied up to the 14th hole. It was at this point that local pro, Ron Adams, was able to take a 1-stroke lead and maintain it throud the final 4 holes.
Adams victory was good for a first place check of $300. Williamson and Roberson had to settle for a second place tie with each receiveing $175.
