Connor Takes Season Opening $2,000 Orlando Open

Neil Connor, Greenville, SC, walked away with first place money, $1,000, in Orlando today. With one round to play, Bob Williamson, from Jacksonville, FL, held a slim two-shot lead over Connor. Connor was able to pick up 5 strokes on his last 18 to overtake Williamson and claim a 3-shot victory. Williamson had to settle for a 3-way tie for 2nd place and $266.66 each with fellow Floridians, Fritz Schafer, of Jacksonville, and Walter Wende, of Orlando. John Connor, Neil's brother, rounded out the top 5 shooting 255 and pocketing $75 for his efforts.

Seventy-one putters from thirteen states participated in the Orlando Open.

The next stop for the touring pros of America in the newest "putt for dough" Professional sport will be Atlanta, Georgia, next weekend, June 10-11, for the $3,000 PPA Southern Open. The tournament is schedule to begin at 2:00pm on Saturday. All pros are urged to be registered on Friday, June 9 as early as possible in the day. Entry fees for the event are $6.00.
