Texas Pro Wins $2,000 Indianapolis Open
Earl Fritts of Houston, Texas added $1,000 to his PPPGA earnings on July 30 bringing his total winnings up to $2,277.72 mark thus far in the 1960 tournament season. In winds with gusts up to 45 miles per hour, Fritts shot a 16-under-par, 200, for the 108-hole route in the $2,000 tournament held on the Eagledale Plaza Putt-Putt Golf Course in Indianapolis, thus copping first place money of $1,000.
Neil Connor, trailing Frank Holt, aced the 108th hole to tie for second and third place money of $350 each with Holt. They both shot a 203. Columbus, Georgia pro, John Curlee, shot a 204, 12-under-par, good for fourth place money of $100.
Top money winner in the circuit thus far is still national champ, Neil Connor of Greenville, South Carolina, who has accumulated $3,435. Next is Frank Holt, Savannah, Georgia pro, whose earnings now total $3,315. Indianapolis tourney winner, Earl Fritts, ranks third with his $2,277.72.
The next national Putt-Putt Professional Golfers Association tournament will be held on August 6, 1960 on the Putt-Putt Golf Course, 4646 North Main Street, Dayton, Ohio. Total prize money will be $2,000 with first place money of $1,000.
